The research is <strong>based on over 11 million interactions on Integreat across more than 100 German local authorities<\/strong> and <strong>highlights which types of content play a particularly important role<\/strong> in how the platform is used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This post builds on that: What conclusions can towns and districts draw from this? And what measures will ensure that digital information for immigrants really makes a difference in their everyday lives?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the study shows \u2013 in a nutshell<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study makes it clear that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Integreat is used primarily when topics offer <strong>direct practical benefits in everyday life<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Areas such as <strong>housing, finding your way around in everyday life, dealing with public authorities, transport and general information for newcomers<\/strong> are particularly relevant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>timeliness and completeness<\/strong> of the content have a major impact on usage and satisfaction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So it is <strong>not just<\/strong> a question of whether information is available \u2013 but of how <strong>clear, comprehensive and practical<\/strong> it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What local authorities can take away from this in practical terms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Enhancing depth of content: don\u2019t just list information, explain it<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study shows that users are looking for guidance, not just collections of links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s why it\u2019s worth presenting content in a <strong>specific, practical and step-by-step manner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example: Housing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of just linking to portals \u2192 explain how to recognise a property listing, what documents are required, how viewings work, and what a tenancy agreement covers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example: Public authorities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of just listing opening hours \u2192 \u201cWhat do I need to bring with me? How does the appointment work? What happens afterwards?\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The more specific, the more helpful.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Cover all subject areas comprehensively<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study shows that visitor numbers rise significantly as soon as topics are presented in a <strong>comprehensive<\/strong> and <strong>accessible <\/strong>manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For local authorities, this means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Organise topics (e.g. \u2018Housing\u2019, \u2018Health\u2019, \u2018Work\u2019, \u2018Leisure\u2019)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add sub-sections that are frequently requested<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify and expand on missing aspects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A good guide is to ask yourself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2018Could someone with no prior knowledge find their way around easily using our content?\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If not \u2192 provide further details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Ensuring up-to-date information \u2014 embedding care as a standard process<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study highlights just how much up-to-date information affects the quality of the service. Information quickly becomes out of date \u2013 new regulations, new forms, different opening hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recommendation for local authorities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Clearly define responsibilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establish fixed review cycles (e.g. quarterly)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implement changes consistently<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this way, Integreat remains a reliable point of reference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Making Integreat visible \u2014 wherever questions arise<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The more closely the app is integrated into <strong>advisory and administrative processes<\/strong>, the more people will use it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Specific areas for action:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Highlight it during registration\/initial consultation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a brief introduction to it in integration courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Display it prominently in accommodation facilities and advice centres<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Involve volunteers and social workers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The important thing is that Integreat is used when people know that it supports them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Using feedback to identify gaps<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Feedback from the field is a valuable way of continuously improving content and identifying needs at an early stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Possible approaches:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>brief feedback questions during the counselling session (\u201cWhat would you have liked?\u201d)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussions with volunteers, social services organisations and migration advisory boards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Link to a simple survey via the <a href=\"https:\/\/integreat.app\/landing\/en\">app<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This creates a learning cycle \u2014 content continues to evolve in line with real-world needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Integreat study clearly shows that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Relevant, comprehensive and up-to-date content is key to effective digital integration.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Local authorities actively shape this impact when they:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cover topics comprehensively,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>present information in a practical way,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ensure it is up to date,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>integrate Integreat into processes in a targeted manner,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and respond to feedback.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this way, Integreat provides real added value for new arrivals \u2013 whilst at the same time serving as a tool that takes the strain off administrative and advisory services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In one of our recent blog posts, we presented the findings of the study Information on Integration: Administrative Offerings &amp; Immigrant Engagement by Samir Khalil.
