People in over 140 cities and districts use Integreat to help them find their way in a new environment. With over 5 million page views per year, the platform is one of the largest digital information services for immigrants in Germany.
Local authorities use Integreat to provide guidance counselling and raise awareness of integration services. This helps users find language courses, work, training, housing and social participation more quickly. Integreat thus helps to relieve the burden on local authority structures by meeting information needs digitally and reducing duplication of counselling services.
We not only want to enable integration, we want to demonstrably improve it. The need for reliable, multilingual information is high, and Integreat closes this gap.
Integreat has been scientifically evaluated over several years. With the participation of the ifo Institute, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Humboldt University of Berlin and other partners, researchers used Integreat as a case study to examine the impact of digital information services on integration.
The surveys (2021–2024) show that:
These results confirm that good information has an impact.
Other research is also focussing on Integreat – for example on the impact of information-mediating platforms, on communication spaces or on the specific needs of the target group. They all show: Integreat connects people, data, and structures in order to lay a strong foundation for digital integration work with relatively little effort.
How is impact created? Our impact staircase shows the way (from bottom to top). We also use the impact staircase to guide further developments at Integreat.
The Output
Cities and districts are able to communicate local information in multiple languages tailored to their target audience. Integreat strengthens the cooperation between different integration stakeholders and offers are available to a wider range of target audiences.
The Outcome
In addition to Integreat, municipalities are improving the way information is communicated and cooperating with other municipalities. Digital bridges are being created to ensure that actions are taken on the basis of digital information. Integration work is perceived as easier by the municipalities.
The Impact
Inequality of opportunity is decreasing locally and across society as a whole.
